FieldTurf Tarkett acquires Beynon Sports Surfaces and Beynon Enterprises

FieldTurf Tarkett acquired Beynon Sports Surfaces and Beynon Enterprises in April 2008 in one of the most significant announcements to come out of the sports surfacing industry in recent years. Beynon Sports Surfaces has a long history of innovation and was selected to build the track for the 2008 Olympic track and field trials at the University of Oregon, Hayward Field. Beynon Enterprises is internationally recognized as the manufacturer and supplier of premium high-performance polyurethane products for the synthetic sports surfacing market. Coupled with the previous purchase of Defargo, FieldTurf Tarkett is now the largest running track company in North America.

“The addition of Beynon Sports Surfaces to the FieldTurf Tarkett family further enhances our ability to continue to provide the highest quality sports surfacing products,” said FieldTurf Tarkett Chief Operating Officer David Moszkowski. “Both companies have always made it a part of their mantra to deliver quality products with continuous emphasis on R&D which makes this a great fit.”

“Joining a company like FieldTurf Tarkett is a natural fit for us,” said Beynon Sports Surfaces Founder John Beynon. “Being part of the FieldTurf Tarkett family will allow us to expand our track business in large part due to the exceptional level of customer service that FieldTurf Tarkett provides. The reality is that FieldTurf Tarkett has unmatched manufacturing capabilities, an impressive focus on quality control, along with the industry’s best financials.”

In addition to building the track for the 2008 Olympic track and field trials, Beynon Sports Surfaces has completed more than 450 world-class, outdoor running tracks and thousands of gymnasium and field house indoor systems for customers such as the University of Oklahoma, University of Illinois, University of Massachusetts, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, University of Maryland, University of North Carolina, Duke University, Syracuse University, University of Wisconsin, Wake Forest University, and Louisiana State University, to name a few.
